A park facing mixed use, student housing-led development in Elephant & Castle
Transforming a backland site in Elephant & Castle, this student housing led proposal creates a distinctive new backdrop for Newington Gardens and the surrounding neighbourhood.
The 14-storey building includes employment uses at the lower levels and 219 purpose-built high quality student residential rooms above.
Stepped in form, the proposal mends the street scene whilst providing a well-articulated addition to the emerging cluster of taller buildings in the wider area. The proposed palette of brick tones picks up on the nearby traditional brick and stone buildings, creating a solid and textured response to the context.
An upgraded public realm and “greening” around the site will generate a pedestrian friendly environment drawing people towards the site and into Newington Gardens beyond.
